Czech Avias to hit the roads in Argentina

Prague – The first medium duty Avia trucks are currently on their way to the South American country of Argentina. This marks the second recent occasion on which Avia Ashok Leyland Motors (AALM) has exported its vehicles overseas. After the company’s involvement in Smith electric vehicles for the United States, the automobile manufacturer is now preparing to make regular deliveries to the Argentinean market by the end of this year. This particular foreign market represents enormous potential in the area of ecological vehicle deliveries. After all, Argentina is the world leader in the number of CNG-fuelled vehicles in local transport.

“For now we are sending to Argentina three vehicles intended for testing and subsequent approval for that market. These are Euro 3 models of D120 diesel vehicles; two are being exported in complete form, while the other is being sent disassembled so we can test the efficiency of shipments for the future,” explains Marcus Pauels, executive director of AALM. He adds that the automobile manufacturer from Letňany plans on regular deliveries in the second half of this year.

Ecological vehicles for the Argentinean market

Czech Avia is being assisted with its expansion onto the local market by the argentinean automobile firm TATSA, which ordered the Letňany vehicles and plans to test them under local conditions. Once the results of these tests are in the two companies will formalize their cooperation, allowing Avia to enter the local automobile market and build a solid standing among trucks in Argentina and the whole of South America.

The company is also not ruling out future cooperation in the area of deliveries of vehicles with alternative drives. After all, Argentina has the greatest number of automobiles in the world fuelled by compressed natural gas (CNG). AALM has a great deal of experience with ecological vehicles, including supplying components for electric cars on the American market. Ashok Leyland, the firm’s parent company, developed the first CNG bus for the Indian city of Delhi. AALM from Letňany plans to continue with this trend into the future and would like to expand environmentally-friendly production with both electric cars and the promising area of CNG vehicle manufacturing.
