Avia trucks enter Russian market

Prague – The Letňany-based mid-size truck manufacturer AVIA has taken another step in the expansion of its business network in Eastern Europe. Early this year the car manufacturer fulfilled all legal requirements for export and sale of its products on this competitive market. By the end of the first half of this year Avia Ashok Leyland Motors (AALM) will have established a business network in seven significant Russian industrial centres with their headquarters in Moscow which will officially open at the beginning of March in the presence of media representatives.

The car manufacturer AVIA has always perceived Russia as a traditional market to which it returns in full force with a completely renewed product portfolio. Like in all other countries where AALM is active, the company plans to address Russian customers especially by highlighting the effort to establish long term partnerships in all areas of business where the main business activities are conducted using mid-size trucks.

“The demand for quality mid-size trucks supported by a network of professional service centres in Russia has been increasing. Therefore we have decided to enter the Russian market, and in the next few months together with our Moscow headquarters we will open branches in Tyumen, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Rostov,” says Marcus Pauels, AALM Chief Operating Officer, adding that the selection of the manager for the Russian market is currently under way.

AALM’s to achieve significant share of the Russian market by the end of 2010

By the end of 2010, AALM plans to achieve a significant share of the Russian market by selling AVIA trucks, type D60, D90 and D120, made in two versions meeting emission standards - Euro 3 and Euro 4. Certificates confirming that the company has obtained homologation and vehicle registration approval will be presented by the representatives of the national accreditation institute NAMI to AALM’s representatives upon the official opening of the Moscow headquarters in the presence of media representatives at the beginning of March. Customers will have the chance to see the first models in April, at the exhibition of commercial vehicles Comtrans 2010 in Moscow, launching a campaign which will help AALM introduce its cars throughout the country by the end of the year.

In addition to the successful expansion of its business activities in the Central and Western Europe and the commencement of cooperation in the production of electric vehicles in the US as the exclusive supplier of cab & chassis, AALM’s presence on the Russian market is another significant step in its long-term plan to actively engage in all important world markets.
